Sinwar "became a legend, a legend to be told for centuries"
At the weekly Sydney CBD rally, three days after Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed: "He died a warrior's death... his story will live on to inspire resistance all around the world."
Jana Fayyad is an organiser with the Palestine Action Group (PAG) in Sydney. In April 2024 the ABC profiled her as having protested for 27 consecutive weeks and "organising pro-Palestinian rallies in Sydney"; she said: "The power of our mobilisation has been very successful" (ABC, 9 Apr 2024).
At a Sydney Palestine rally on 10 March 2024, the day after the International Women's Day rally, she told the crowd: "On this International Women's Day, we don't think of Margaret Thatcher, we don't think of Ursula von der Leyen, we don't think of Hillary Clinton... we think of Dr. Amira Al-Asouly! We think of the woman that we honor, the woman in Gaza, and beyond the woman in Gaza, we think of Leila Khaled! The woman on the forefront of Palestinian liberation!" Leila Khaled is a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine who took part in two airliner hijackings (1969 and 1970). Fayyad also asked Western feminists: "Are you only progressive until Palestine?" (video; Green Left, March 2024).
At the weekly Sydney CBD rally on 20 October 2024, three days after Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed, she told the crowd: "He died a warrior's death amongst his men... in defense of his land... against a genocidal invader and occupier and colonizer. In his death, he became a legend, a legend to be told for centuries, for his story will live on to inspire, to inspire resistance all around the world." The Australian reported the speech the same day, describing the speaker as unidentified and quoting her: "We will never forget you (Sinwar) and we will never forget your legend... the resistance lives on." Drew Pavlou named her the following day.
Hamas's 7 October 2023 attack, which Sinwar is regarded as having masterminded, killed about 1,200 people in Israel and took 251 hostages.

The Evidence Project is an independent, investigative timeline archive — every case, every document, every date, laid out in order so the full picture is there to see. Each entry links through to primary sources, footage, and documents so nothing here rests on our word alone.
We are not aligned with any political party, movement, or side. We hold every figure and organisation on this site to the same standard of evidence, regardless of who they are or what they believe — not because we're neutral on the issues, but because the facts, once verified, don't need us to take a side for them.
A note on what this site is — and isn't
Inclusion here documents a verified event, connection, or statement on the public record. It is not an accusation, and it does not imply guilt, association, or wrongdoing beyond what the cited sources themselves establish. Where a claim is contested, unconfirmed, or needs context for fairness, we say so.
What this is about: a small network of individuals and organisations who promote extremism, and the institutions that funded, platformed or overlooked them. It is not about Muslims. Most Muslim Australians reject these views, and many have spoken out against them at real cost to themselves. They are part of the solution.
This site exists so people can read, learn, and reach their own conclusions — not so it can be used as ammunition against anyone. Do not use it to harass, threaten or target anyone, whether a person named here, their family, or any community. If you're looking for a reason to target someone, you won't find it built into this site; you'll only find the record, and what you do with it is on you.
This is a conversation Australia needs to have, and we welcome that conversation.
If we got something wrong, tell us and show us the source — we'll check it and correct it publicly. Tips and documents are welcome too: contact@evidenceproject.au
